Alzheimer’s Care
At Oceana County Medical Care Facility, we utilize a Person-Centered Care approach for individuals with mild to moderate dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. This means each resident is cared for as the unique individual they are, with all activities and specialized programs tailored to their specific needs.
We also promote continued involvement in daily home tasks and engagement in a variety of activities and enjoyable services, such as the Soda Shop, the Garage, and the Beauty & Barber Shop. Residents may also choose to spend time on our comfortable all-seasons porch, in the chapel or courtyard, or in their own spacious room, which we encourage residents to decorate with personal items.
Our constant goal is to improve the quality of life and provide a sense of accomplishment and independence for our Alzheimer’s and dementia care residents.
Admissions: How to Become a Resident
If you require Alzheimer’s or dementia care for a loved one, please contact our Admissions Coordinator, Deb Nelson, LPN, directly at (231) 873-6600 extension 6040 or debn@oceanamcf.org. Due to limited capacity, our memory care patients are admitted from a wait list as rooms become available and upon assessment of placement need.
We also encourage family members to visit Michigan’s Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) Nursing Home page for additional information regarding how to choose a skilled nursing facility for a loved one.
